MY STORY
Writing is part of my DNA.
An insatiable curiosity drives me.
My joy is sharing stories of the world, its people, and cultures… bringing to life the unheard voices I find along the way.
Giving voice to things that matter, raising awareness, and expanding perspectives is what lights my fire and is the heart and soul of who I am and what I do.
My Early Days in PR.
I spent twenty years working in entertainment PR and marketing where I created and implemented national marketing and communications campaigns for major independent film distributors, television networks, film festivals, record labels, musicians, and others.
Highlights of my career include co-founding, and for seven years managing Kahn & Jacobs, a leading entertainment marketing and public relations agency in New York City. I was named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s 26 “Power Players” of the New York Film Industry.
A small sampling of the amazing films I helped launch include Sling Blade, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Trip to Bountiful, Dirty Dancing, Sid and Nancy, Paris is Burning, Brother's Keeper, She’s Gotta Have It, Down by Law, True Stories, Brother’s Keeper, and Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills.
I also served as Vice President, Worldwide Publicity for RCA Victor Group, at BMG, and with the same title at Sony Classical. I orchestrated national campaigns for Yo-Yo Ma, The Three Tenors, Joshua Bell, Joe Jackson, Etta James, Ziggy Marley, Cesaria Evora, Rachael Yamagata, and more.
Travel.
Since childhood, travelling has fed my spirit, creativity, and been a great source of inspiration and joy. Far-away lands that require a passport are my preference.
In addition to personal travel, my international work experience includes spending extensive time in Haiti, where I consulted with the Ministries of Tourism and the Environment, and brokered commodities deals within the private sector.
In Angola, I produced a multi-media international awareness-building campaign introducing Western audiences to traditional Angolan Kuduro music and dance. The campaign included live experiential events in Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Luanda, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
I spent 6-weeks in Ghana, where I did my Kundalini teacher training and received the 200-hour RYT certification.
Passion.
My parents were the original Earth Shoe founders in 1970. This brought with it my exposure to holistic healing modalities at a young age, which was and remains a large part of my life.
I’m a certified Kundalini yoga teacher, Pilates teacher, and Shiatsu massage therapist.
Salsa dancing is my passion and therapy. When I'm not working, you’ll find me on the dance floor!
